Today we spotlight (Dominica in Palmis) which is known to us as PALM SUNDAY.

PALM SUNDAY is the beginning of Holy Week and the last week of our Lord’s Life before He is Crucified.

(I have to take you on a journey)

For Thousands of years the isrealites were expecting a messiah, one they would call king and They were expecting him for years.

This text here in Mark Chapter 11 really begins in 1 Samuel Chapter 8 verse 7 where people came to the prophet of God and said that they wanted a king.

Samuel was old in age and his sons were not walking according to the ways of God.

Samuel was heart broken for in his mind they aleady had a king who was GOD who reighn supreme and solverin over them but they did not agree with samuel.

So Samuel goes to God with his sorrow of rejection and GOD says they have not rejected you but they have rejected me.

Samuel trys to reason with them in verse 10 -19 by letting them know if you get a King he’s gonna reign over you;

- If he reigns over you he’s gonna take your sons and put them to war.

- If he reighns over you he’s going to take advantage of your daugthers .

- If he reigns over you he’s gonna take a tithe of what you earn , YOU REALLY DONT WANT A KING!!

They did not listen and still demanded a King, God tells Samuel “Harken to the Voices of the People” give them what they want.

God gives them their first king, Saul.

Samuel anoints Saul and Saul begins his reign in a very positive way.

He’s anointed, He’s Gifted to the ponit that 1 Samuel 10 says “HE WENT TO THE HILL WHERE THE PROPHETS OF GELGULIE WERE, JOINED AMONGST THEM AND CAME DOWN WITH THEM WHILE THEY WERE PRAISING GOD AND HE BECAME A CHANGED MAN” ,

But he would soon become invious and jealoues because God said that Saul is not really the man after my heart.

Saul disobeys God on several occassions, Saul stepped out of his role as King and operated as a priets by making a sacrifice.

God saw what Saul did and said your Kingdom has been divided and taken from you.

HERE COMES DAVID

- Everybody loves David

-The Psalmist of Isreal a Poet

-He’s a warrior

-He harmonized the 2 divisons of the nation

-Brought the nation to great economic strenght

-Even when David made a mistake they still held him in high regard. because the nation was at its best, BUT DAVID DIED!

HERE COMES SOLOMON

-He had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines, Solomon had some real issues.

Sooooo the Kingdom is past down to King after Kings and we see where the Bible say that they did not do acording to the word of God, they pretty much did what was right in their own eyes!

Isreal had always long for this this coming Messiah, the prophets began to phrophesy about this coming king who would be the messiah,

and it seemed as if it were never going to happen,

they look for this king to be simular to David and infact they never got over david they kept talking about him and one day God was going to retore Isreal but he would restore it under the leadership of the new king who would be their messiah, and GOD SENDS JESUS!!!

TEXT:

The night prior to PALM SUNDAY He spends it in Bethany with Lazarus, Mary, and Martha (Jn. 12:1f).

Bethany is located on the southeastern slope of the Mount of Olives, which is less than 2 miles from Jerusalem.

HERE COMES THE FOLLERY, JESUS DID NOT MEET THE JEWISH EXPECTATION, WHAT!!!

The night prior to PALM SUNDAY He spends it in Bethany with Lazarus, Mary, and Martha (Jn. 12:1f).

Bethany is located on the southeastern slope of the Mount of Olives, which is less than 2 miles from Jerusalem.

JESUS does make strategic moves

He was now going to deliberately demonstrate that He was the Messiah, the One prophesied to be the Savior of the world. He pictured without question that He was the fulfillment of prophecy, the One for whom all righteous men had longed and looked.
